Google is adding Hindi and French emojis to the search bar, and is expanding its English-only service with new emoji.
The search bar in Hindi, French and English is expected to be updated to include all of the characters that are the most commonly used in the respective languages.
While the update to English is planned to be in the next few weeks, Google says it will include emoji in the new version in June.
Google is also expanding the emoji available to its native English-language users.
The company is adding more emojines than it has in the past, including the following: The word ‘chinese’, which is often used as a modifier to describe people from China, India or Taiwan, will appear as an emoji in English.
Japanese kanji will be replaced with emoji characters from the English language.
Indian-style lettering will also be used on a variety of emoji.
The search menu for the search box will also have an ‘Emoji’ icon next to it, which will indicate whether the character is available in the app.
More emojes will be added in the future, but Google is already adding more emoji to the main search bar than it did in the last version of Android, released last year.
