The main question then is how will people use Glass?
The team behind the project have already tested the technology in a number different scenarios, including a classroom setting, where students were shown videos of the building and asked to look at the building in a certain way.
The students who looked at the glass were then asked to write down what they thought the building looked like from the perspective of a blind person.
Glass can also be used in real-time with the aid of Google’s AI assistant, which uses its camera and microphone to translate the information into words and phrases.
Google hopes that the glasses will be an ideal tool for people looking for information on their own time, or when they are away from their phones.
“The idea of this project is to bring these technologies together to create a truly personal and immersive technology that will enable users to see things differently than they normally do,” said Professor David Peltier, who was part of the project.
“By providing a platform for people to see, feel and interact with their surroundings in ways that they can’t with other forms of technology, we can create the perfect environment for learning, creativity, socialising and exploring.”
Google is not the only company to use the technology, and is just one of many that are working to make Glass a reality.
Samsung is working on an augmented reality headset, and has also recently announced plans to make its own VR headset.
