When the new version of the Basketball Wives movie hit theaters, it wasn’t the first time a movie adaptation of the popular animated series had been released.
In fact, Disney’s The Little Mermaid opened the first animated film version of its movie, Ariel: The Little Beauty, in 2009.
The movie, which has since grossed more than $1.7 billion worldwide, followed Ariel as she traveled to various Disney theme parks and castles in the film.
“It’s about Ariel as a young girl who is going to be a princess,” Disney’s Jennifer Lee said at the time.
“She goes to the beach, she goes to Disney World and all that.
And then she goes home and she is very lonely.
And so she makes this movie, and it’s about how she can find her happiness.”
